Megan Shoemaker Bio

Megan Shoemaker began dance at the age of three. Ever since then she has continued to take classes in styles such as tap, jazz, ballet, modern, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop and musical theatre. This is Megan’s sixth year taking classes at DanceCo and it is also her fourth year of teaching dance. This past year Megan was awarded two choreography awards for her competitive hip hop class as well as an outstanding hip hop group award.
Megan has also completed examinations in R.A.D ballet, Al Gilbert tap and most recently the I.S.T.D Advanced One Tap syllabus. Megan graduated in 2008 fromVictoriaSchoolof the Arts having completed the Composition 35/Dance I.B program. Currently she attends theUniversityofAlbertaand is in her fourth year of a Bachelor of Education degree with a physical education minor for Elementary school path.This past summer she had the opportunity to travel with DanceCo toNew York. There she had the chance to take classes from a variety of choreographers atBroadwayDanceCenter. Also in the past year she has attended conferences presented by the Alberta Dance Educator’s Association. This upcoming dance season she will be choreographing for the Edmonton Show and looks forward to teaching more classes at DanceCo as well as taking classes, participating in festivals and competitions and most importantly seeing her students from the past year again!She hopes everyone had a wonderful summer!
